The Highland Archive Centre, Inverness is the place of deposit for the historic records of Highland Health Board/NHS Highland dating from 1798.  The collection contains records from Royal Northern Infirmary; Inverness District Asylum; Inverness Poorhouse as well as hospitals across Caithness, Sutherland, Ross and Cromarty, Skye and Lochaber. Skye and Lochalsh Archive Centre hold the Duncan Macpherson collection. Macpherson was the pharmacist in Kyle of Lochalsh during the first half of the 20th century
